Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas is Turning Signature Turmeric Restaurant into Desaru’s Gastronomic Paradise this Ramadan | With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, Desaru Coast’s preeminent luxury resort Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas is setting the stage for an opulent Ramadan celebration, with Turmeric restaurant offering hotel guests and local residents the perfect venue where to craft festive memories over a lavish feast.
A popular dining venue with lagoon pool views, during the month of Ramadan, Turmeric will be transformed into a richly decorated bazaar, while the restaurant’s open-air terrace will have the aura of an exquisite setting with flickering lanterns and breezy atmosphere under the stars.
On the extensive buka puasa menu designed by the resort’s new Executive Chef Fahdrul Hj Abd Malek, guests will find much-loved traditional dishes from all over the country, with an emphasis on local produce, especially foraged botanicals and herbs. Guests can break the fast with mouth-watering cold and hot starters such as ulam, a typical Malaysian relish with foraged greens and jungle herbs; marinated shredded chicken with selom leaf, grated coconut and chilli, and other delicious appetisers.
Putting an emphasis on healthy, nutritious food, Chef Fahdrul picked the most wholesome international dishes: vitamin-rich Thai green papaya salad; heart-healthy tandoori baked mackerel with raita and mint yoghurt; and Bali’s nourishing gado-gado salad with vegetables and peanut sauce. Not to be missed either are Chef’s signature Ramadan rice porridge with meat and spices, and assorted curries, including tiger prawns, braised duck and lamb curry with eggplant, peanut, kaffir lime and coconut milk.
Working closely with local fishermen who bring in a daily catch of the freshest seafood, the culinary team will be serving premium crustaceans such as slipper lobsters, crayfish and prawns with assorted dressings and condiments. Guests will also be treated to the fiery display of grilling at the outdoor live stations turning out barbequed meat and seafood.
For dessert, guests can have fun assembling their own ais kacang at the dessert station by drizzling a rainbow of syrups and evaporated milk over shaved ice and their choice of jelly, red beans, palm seeds and other toppings. The chocolate fountain with fresh strawberry, butter cake and marshmallows for dipping promises to be another crowd-pleaser. A selection of fresh fruit and popular Malay desserts — signature coconut pudding, black glutinous rice porridge with coconut milk, and pumpkin in coconut cream — completes the scrumptious offering.
Ramadan buffet at Turmeric restaurant will be served daily from 6.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. between 2nd April and 2nd May. The price of RM148+ per person (RM78+ for children under 12 years old) includes unlimited soft drinks, air bandung, teh tarik and coffee. An Early Bird promotion offering 25% savings applies to reservations made before 31st March.
